I had an ear infection (again) recently, and it reminded me how THEY ARE TERRIBLE! My hearing was down on one side with the infection, so I wore a hearing aid in that ear for a few days along with constant ringing. Without it, I could not understand my patients coming in with their own tinnitus and hearing loss needs. Thankfully, ear infections only temporarily affect your hearing, so once I was better, I could shelve the hearing aid. It absolutely gave me new appreciation for relying on hearing aids to communicate effectively and to tune in to the world around me; not because the hearing aid was bad, but that I am glad my ear healed. The hearing aid itself was so comfortable and accurate, it was a welcome help to stay connected!
